Last Friday around 4:15 PM, I was near the Court Avenue District in Des Moines, stepping out of a blue storefront café by the riverwalk. I checked my backpacks and realized my passports had vanished from the zipper pocket. They have blue-green covers with my initials in the corner, and the thought of a missed trip has me on edge. I’m hoping someone picked them up and turned them in to a local shop or the security desk, so I can recover them through the site.
I was wandering along the Des Moines Riverfront near Court Avenue around 6:45 PM and found a folder of sheet music resting on a bench outside the downtown library. It’s a mix of piano and guitar pieces, some faded with age, a little torn in places but still legible. It felt like a moment of connection with a local musician who left their practice behind for a while. I’m hoping the owner spots this and can reclaim their music through the site.
I was walking along Grand Avenue near the State Capitol when I spotted a bundle of holiday decorations sitting by the curb. There were red and gold ornaments, a string of fairy lights, and a small 'Happy Holidays' banner tucked in a tote. It looked like someone dropped them in the morning rush, and they deserve a better home than the street. I picked them up and kept them aside in case the owner returns here on the site.
I lost my rose-gold pendant necklace yesterday around 3pm. I was wandering through downtown Des Moines near the Pappajohn Sculpture Park along Grand Avenue after grabbing a coffee, when I realized it wasn’t on my neck anymore. The necklace is about 16 inches long, rose-gold plated, with a small heart pendant. The back is engraved with the initials 'JP' and the lobster clasp has a tiny etched leaf on the end. It’s a gift from my grandmother and means the world to me, so I’d really appreciate getting it back if someone found it near the sculpture park or along Grand Ave. Thanks for keeping an eye out!
I lost my grey tabby Milo yesterday around 3pm. He's a medium-sized domestic shorthair with a grey striped coat and a white patch on his chest. He wears a light blue collar with a tiny silver bell, and there's a small notch in his left ear that makes him easy to identify. He tends to be skittish around strangers but he's incredibly affectionate once he warms up, which is why I'm really worried. I last saw him near the East Village coffee shop on 5th Street and Grand Avenue in Des Moines; he bolted when I opened the door to grab the mail. If you spot him, please text or call me—we're really hoping to bring him home tonight.
Big man's ring with etching. Found in a neighborhood near Merle Hay & Franklin.
