On a gray Saturday afternoon, I found a small blue utensil roll outside the Utica Public Library on Genesee Street in Utica-Rome-Oneida, New York. The roll held a fork, a knife, a worn spatula, and a dented measuring spoon, all set neatly as if someone had just paused for a quick break. It was around 3:15 p.m., near the library’s front steps, with the canal breeze carrying the echoes of footsteps. It felt like a tiny clue in someone’s routine day, maybe after cooking for a simple meal after class or work. I’m posting it in case the rightful owner wanders by and recognizes the scene.
