I was strolling the beach near Cape Hatteras Lighthouse visitor center at 11:30 a.m. last Sunday when I spotted a brown leather travel wallet half-buried in the sand. Inside were travel visas, a boarding-pass stub, and a few stamps—clear signs of someone planning a trip. I could tell it mattered to the traveler, and I didn’t want to leave it out there in case someone returned for it.
