I was tidying the living room of my Catskills cabin on Friday at 7:15 p.m. when I realized the olive drapes with a burgundy border had vanished from their usual rod by the window. The window was closed and nothing else seems out of place, but the room feels less like home without them. They’re not just fabrics; they soften the winter light and give the room a sense of privacy.
