Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Statesboro, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Statesboro and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Statesboro so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Lost green parakeet Pico with blue tail

Hey, I lost my green parakeet Pico yesterday around 3pm near the Statesboro Public Library on Main Street. Pico is a small green parakeet about 6 inches long, with a bright blue tail and a yellow crown patch. He has a clipped wing from a vet visit and wears a tiny brass leg band with the number 42. He’s a gentle guy who loves sunflower seeds and perching on shoulders, and he’s sentimental to me—he was a gift from my sister who passed away last year. If anyone finds him, I’d be forever grateful; I’m really worried and miss him a lot.

Gray dwarf rabbit with blue collar

Lost my gray dwarf rabbit Mochi yesterday around 3pm. He's small, about the size of a grapefruit, with soft gray fur, white belly, and a blue collar with a tiny silver bell. Mochi has a distinctive white crescent-shaped patch on his left ear and a tiny nick on his right hind leg from a playful tumble. I last saw him near the Statesboro Public Library on Main Street, by the benches outside Java Junction near the bus stop. I can't stress enough how much he means to me—Mochi was a gift from my grandmother, and I really need him back.

Lost 2-year-old gray tabby cat named Luna with green eyes and pink collar with bell in backyard in Statesboro.

My cat, Luna, went missing last night from my backyard in Statesboro. She is a 2-year-old gray tabby with green eyes, and she's very friendly but may be scared. I had just let her outside for a bit of fresh air, and she usually comes back in a few minutes, but this time she hasn't returned. I'm really worried and would appreciate any help. She's wearing a pink collar with a small bell and might be hiding nearby.
