I left my everyday utensils—two forks, a wooden spoon, and a metal spatula—in a tote by the picnic table at Riverside Park on Main Street in Parsons, Southeast Kansas. It was Friday, 6:45 pm, after I helped clean up after a small family cookout. The wind gusted and I must have left the tote on the table under the yellow canopy near Shelter 4. These utensils are ordinary, but the wooden spoon belonged to my grandmother, and I’ve been thinking about them since. I keep replaying the moment in my head, hoping someone who was at the park that evening might remember the tote and kept it safe.
