I found a small envelope tucked beneath a bench at Burlington Riverfront Park around 5:10 PM last Saturday. When I picked it up, I realized inside there were old- and new-issue stamps, a couple of commemorative sheets, and a faded note written in someone’s handwriting. They were kept in a clear plastic sleeve, the kind you get at the post office, and I could tell the owner cared about them. I left the envelope on the same bench, under the soft glow of the streetlamp by Market Street, hoping it would be claimed by the rightful owner if they came back this way.
