Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Sioux City is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Sioux City — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Sioux City so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Lost memory cards in Sioux City.

I must have dropped my memory cards while walking near the Tyson Events Center on 4th Street in downtown Sioux City around 10:30 AM today. They hold irreplaceable photos from a family vacation and a lot of everyday moments we’d hate to lose. If you picked them up, please let me know through the site so we can arrange a safe handoff. These cards mean a lot to us, and any help in getting them back would mean the world.

Lost remote controls near Tyson Events Center

I realized around 7:40 PM on Tuesday that my remote controls were missing after I got home from work in Sioux City. I last used them while flipping through a news channel, and I must have left them on the coffee table, then wandered off. I retraced my steps from the East Village apartment to the Tyson Events Center parking lot, but no luck. Those remotes are small but priceless during late-night TV marathons, and I’m really hoping someone picked them up instead of leaving them behind. If found, I’d be grateful to get them back to the building staff at the front desk.

Black iPhone 12 Pro with blue bumper case

I lost my iPhone 12 Pro, black, 128GB, around 3pm yesterday near the Starbucks on Main Street in downtown Sioux City. It's in a blue silicone bumper case, and there's a small white fox sticker on the back along with a cracked screen protector. The phone also has a tiny dent on the lower-right corner and a saved photo of my grandmother's handwriting as the lock-screen wallpaper. I was walking from the cafe toward the riverfront when it must have slipped from my pocket. I really need to get it back; it's filled with personal photos and work notes. If anyone finds it, email me at [email protected].

Lost black leather phone case containing an iPhone and important cards near a café on Pearl Street in Sioux City.

I left my black leather phone case at the café near Pearl Street while I was having coffee with a friend. It has my iPhone inside and some important cards. I realized it was missing as soon as I got home, and I've retraced my steps multiple times but haven’t found it. If anyone has seen it or picked it up, I’d really appreciate getting it back!

Lost black JBL Flip 5 portable Bluetooth speaker near a park in Sioux City, Iowa, inside a blue backpack.

I lost my JBL Flip 5 portable Bluetooth speaker around Sioux City at the park during a picnic. It's black with a durable fabric covering and was inside a blue backpack that I may have left there. I really hope someone found it as I've had it for a while and it's a birthday gift from my friend.
