Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Panama City, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Panama City and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Panama City so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Bright green budgie with red leg band

I lost my bright green budgie yesterday around 3pm. He's a small parakeet about 5 inches long, with a lime-green body, yellow belly, and a tiny blue patch on his left wing; he also wears a red leg band with the initials MK. I last saw him near the Multicentro on Calle 50 in Obarrio, and he tends to perch on balconies along that stretch. This bird means a lot to me—it's a family gift, and I really need him back; if you’ve seen him, you can reach me at [email protected].

Beige Syrian hamster with blue harness

I lost my beige Syrian hamster, Gizmo, yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Calle 50 by Avenida Balboa. He’s a small, fluffy guy about the size of a ping-pong ball, with soft tan fur, a tiny white blaze on his forehead, and a pink nose. He wears a bright blue harness with a tiny silver bell that jingles when he moves. Gizmo has been with me since last year; it's really emotional for me because he helps my daughter with her anxiety, and it's a lot of sentimental value. If you’ve seen a little ham with that blue harness in Panama City, please contact me—we’ll be forever grateful!

Tan terrier mix with blue collar, missing

Yesterday around 4:30pm I lost my dog, a medium-sized tan terrier mix, near Biomuseo along the Cinta Costera in Panama City. He wears a bright blue collar and has a small white patch on his chest; there’s also a tiny white mark on his left ear. He’s generally friendly but can be shy around strangers, especially in crowds. He’s microchipped, so if someone brings him in, a vet can scan him easily. This dog is family to me—he came with me after my grandmother passed away and has sentimental value. If you’ve seen him, please drop me a message here—I’d be forever grateful to have him back.
