Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Nashville, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Nashville and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Nashville so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Lost: Breeds notebook in Nashville

I was at 3:15 p.m. last Saturday, ducking into the coffee cart outside the Ryman Auditorium on Broadway, flipping through a small notebook about dog breeds. I must have left it on a railing by the entrance while I spoke with a vendor. The cover is faded blue and the pages are full of breed sketches, notes, and a few personal reminders tucked inside. My heart sank when I realized it was gone—it's the kind of thing I carry everywhere, and it holds memories of late-night study sessions. If you found it near Printer's Alley or Centennial Park, please let the site know so I can get it back.

Cream terrier mix, blue collar near Broadway

I lost my cream-colored terrier mix yesterday around 5pm near the Ryman Auditorium on Broadway. He's about 20 pounds with a bright blue collar and a little bell, and there's a heart-shaped white patch on his chest. He also has a microchip registered on file and a small scar behind his left ear. He's a rescue who is really attached to me, so I'm worried sick and would be grateful to get him back; he answers to 'Milo' and usually comes when I call. If you've seen him or someone brought him in, please text me right away so I can pick him up.

Red Rabbitgoo dog harness with paw-tag

I lost my red Rabbitgoo dog harness yesterday around 3pm near Centennial Park's dog run, at the West End entrance off 25th Ave N in Nashville. It's a medium size, adjustable nylon harness with a reflective stripe along the chest and a tiny gold paw-print name tag on the side that says 'Nova'. There's a small snag where the seam is worn from rain, and the red color is a bit faded from weather. It has sentimental value because Nova is my rescue and the harness was a gift from my sister—really hoping to get it back. If anyone spots it, please DM me or text me; I’d be forever grateful to recover it.
