I was rushing to catch a flight after a weekend visit and realized my passport was missing around 7:15 p.m. last Friday near the Morgantown Farmers Market on High Street. The passport is a blue U.S. passport tucked in a worn leather sleeve that smells faintly of rain. I felt a jolt of panic and then a stubborn hope that someone honest might have picked it up and left it somewhere safe. The campus lights glowed behind the bridge as I walked back and forth, muttering to myself, wishing I hadn't been careless. If it's found, I hope it ends up back where it belongs, with its owner.
