A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Humboldt County and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Humboldt County so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Lost terrariums near Old Town Eureka, Humboldt County

On Friday around 4:45 p.m., I realized my two terrariums were missing from a bench along the Humboldt Bay waterfront in Humboldt County, California, United States. The glass domes held tiny ferns, moss, and a couple of succulents, and one had a little air plant peeking out. I’d been chatting with friends and took a quick photo when the breeze knocked the tote off the chair. I searched the area around Old Town Eureka, but they weren’t there. These terrariums matter to me because they were part of a gift for a friend. If you found them, please check this listing on the site.

Green-yellow cockatiel with orange cheeks, lost near Arcata

I’m hoping someone spotted Mango, my 2-year-old cockatiel. I last had him on my shoulder yesterday around 3pm near Arcata Plaza by the farmers market, and he darted into the trees behind the plaza. He’s a gray cockatiel with a bright yellow head and orange cheeks, about the size of a canary, and he wears a red plastic leg band with the letters 'MNG' plus a small white splotch on his left wing. If you see him, I’d love to get him back—he’s a gift from my grandmother and I’m really worried. You can email me at [email protected] if you’ve got any tips.

Lost pet hamster named Oreo, small black and white, missing in Humboldt County neighborhood.

I lost my pet hamster, Oreo, around my neighborhood in Humboldt County. He's a small, black and white cutie, very curious, and has a tendency to wiggle out of his cage when the door is slightly ajar. He went missing last night and I still can't believe it. He usually sticks close by but he's been gone for over 12 hours now. Please, if you see him or find him, let me know!
