Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Grand Forks in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost hats near Empire Arts Center, Grand Forks

I lost two hats during a night out in Grand Forks and I can't shake the missing feeling. Around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, I left a brown felt fedora and a blue knit beanie on a bench outside the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks after a show. I walked toward the University of North Dakota campus and later realized they'd vanished. Those hats were my travel companions on weeks of campus errands and a reminder of summer road trips. If you spotted a fedora and a knit near the Empire Arts Center steps or along the Greenway, please tell the site manager.

Lost GPS devices near UND campus

Last Friday at about 7:10 PM, after helping out at a youth football game at the Alerus Center, I left my GPS devices in a black hard case on a bench by the Walsh Hall courtyard near the UND campus. I remember walking toward the parking ramp, tapping the case to make sure it was secure. I rely on those devices for field trips and mapping routes, so I’m anxious about the loss. I checked the Greenway Trail and the area around the Ralph Engelstad Arena, but there was nothing. If someone found them, I’d appreciate the return; this has left me stressing all weekend.

Lost: My stack of travel postcards

On Friday at 6:45 PM, I realized my small bundle of travel postcards had vanished somewhere between the doors to the Columbia Mall and the food court. I’d spent the afternoon sorting through them, admiring a few shots from the Red River trail and the UND campus photo tucked in my folder. The postcards are blank-backed with thin, slightly creased edges and a pale blue stamp in the corner. Losing them feels like losing a memory I’d hoped to send to my sister back home. I keep replaying the moment I set them down and stepped into the crowd, hoping someone picked them up.

Lost: My two toasters from the kitchen

On Friday at 7:45 p.m., I was cleaning up in my apartment off 4th Street in downtown Grand Forks, not far from the UND campus. I turned back to the kitchen counter and found the space where my two toasters usually sit empty. I searched the kitchen, checked the living room, and even peeked through the hallway, but they were gone. This is a lost item that matters to our morning routine; these toasters have always helped us start the day, and cooking toast without them feels off near the Red River.

Lost holiday decorations in Grand Forks

I spent Sunday night getting the house ready for a little family gathering, but at 7:45 PM last Friday I realized a box of holiday decorations was missing. The box sat on the living room coffee table, just a few feet from the front window, near the Alerus Center on 42nd Street South in Grand Forks. Inside I kept a pine-cone wreath, a string of warm-white lights, a handful of glass ornaments, and a ceramic snowman with a chipped hat. I'm anxious about not having them for our small celebration tomorrow, and I miss the sparkle they bring to our tree. If you found a dusty red-and-green box near the entrance to my building, please keep it safe for me.

Silver Yamaha flute in black case

I lost my silver Yamaha flute yesterday around 3pm near the Grand Forks Public Library on DeMers Ave. It's a student-grade flute with a clean silver finish, plus a tiny dent near the headjoint. The black hard case has a bright red strap, and the inside of the lid is stamped with my initials 'P.P.' The instrument means a lot to me—it's a gift from my grandmother and has sentimental value—so I really need it back if anyone found it.
