Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Dundee are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Dundee in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

LOST: Paintings near V&A Dundee

This afternoon, around 2:45 PM, I was strolling along the River Tay by the V&A Dundee's riverside entrance when two framed paintings slipped from under my arm. One shows a sunset over the water, the other a misty harbor scene with gulls. I paused to check directions at the riverside cafe, and when I turned back, they were gone. I’m unsettled because those works were gifts and remind me of a trip with my grandmother. If anyone saw them, I’d be grateful they’ve turned up.

Lost wrist watches in Dundee, United Kingdom

Yesterday at 2:15 PM I realized my wrist watches were missing from my jacket pocket while strolling Dundee City Centre. I had started at the McManus Galleries and wandered toward V&A Dundee along Riverside Drive, pausing at Slessor Gardens to check my map. There are two watches: one with a silver face and a light-blue dial, the other with a black leather strap and a white face. They were gifts from my dad and carry years of small memories; losing them feels like losing a piece of home, and I’d be grateful if someone found them and kept them safe until I can collect them near the river.

lost utensils from my kitchen after Monday dinner in Dundee.

At 7:42 p.m. last Friday I was tidying the kitchen in my flat on Perth Road when I realized my utensils had vanished from the drawer. The set is small but dear to me—a dented wooden spoon, a chipped metal whisk, and a faded red spatula I inherited from my gran. I checked the shelves and even searched around Baxter Park, but nothing turned up. Those pieces are tied to quiet Sunday roasts and late-night recipes that keep me company in this flat. If you saw them around the Overgate Centre area, please keep an eye out.

Lost scarves near Overgate Centre, Dundee

Isla MacLeod here. I lost a pair of scarves on Saturday around 4:15 pm while walking from Dundee railway station toward the Overgate Centre. The scarves are sentimental: one is charcoal wool with a simple fringe, the other is pale blue knitted with tiny paisley patterns; they’re both thin but warm enough for an autumn wind. They were a gift from my grandmother, and I wore them almost daily. I checked the escalators and the bus stops outside the Overgate, but they’ve vanished into the crowd. If anyone spots them draped over a bench or left behind in a shop, please keep them safe. They mean a lot to me.

lost: My shoes near Albert Square, Dundee

I was hurrying to catch the bus at the Nethergate stop in Dundee this afternoon, around 3:10 PM, when I kicked off my old black leather shoes to re-tie them and must have sent one rolling away. It disappeared into the gravel by the bus shelter near Albert Square, just outside the McManus Galleries. They’re simple black leather trainers with white soles and a small scuff on the left toe. I’ve worn them for years and they’ve seen me through a lot, and I’m anxious about not having them for the next shift.
