Last Friday around 4:15 PM, I was near the Court Avenue District in Des Moines, stepping out of a blue storefront café by the riverwalk. I checked my backpacks and realized my passports had vanished from the zipper pocket. They have blue-green covers with my initials in the corner, and the thought of a missed trip has me on edge.
