Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Bend is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Bend — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Bend so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Black Anker 8-in-1 USB-C hub, space gray

I lost my Black Anker 8-in-1 USB-C hub yesterday around 3pm near the Old Mill District Starbucks along the Deschutes River Trail in Bend. It's space gray, palm-sized, and lives in a slim black pouch with a couple of tiny scratches on the top from baggage jostling around. On the bottom edge there's a white sticker with the initials 'PP' and a small dent in the corner. This hub is essential for my setup and holds sentimental value—it was a gift from my sister for college. If you found it, please reach out; I'd really appreciate getting it back.

Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones, dark gray

I lost my Sony WH-1000XM5 wireless headphones yesterday around 3pm near the Box Factory in the Old Mill District, Bend. They’re dark gray with a matte finish and are over-ear. The right ear cup has a tiny dent on the rim and there’s a copper ring around the Sony logo. They were inside a black carrying case with a blue interior, and I stuck a white sticker with my initials 'AP' inside the lid. They’re really important to me for both work and unwind time, and I’d be incredibly grateful to get them back if found.

Lost black iPhone 12 with clear scratched case near waterfall bench along Deschutes River in Bend.

I lost my black iPhone 12 while I was out hiking along the Deschutes River in Bend. I think I must have left it on a bench around the waterfall area. It has a clear case with some scratches on the back and my brother's contact as a favorite. I really need it back because it has some important pictures and contacts.
