On Friday around 5:45 p.m., I found a small stack of postcards on a bench outside the downtown library on Truxtun Ave in Bakersfield. They’re mostly travel-themed, photos from old trips with cheerful stamps on the backs. The handwriting looks like it came from someone who loves to scribble little notes to friends and family. I can imagine the owner checking their pockets, maybe realizing the cards had fallen out during a busy afternoon at the nearby farmers market.
