Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Yuma is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Yuma — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Yuma so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Lost adapters in Yuma, Arizona

I lost my adapters last Friday around 7:15 p.m. after I packed up my backpack outside the Yuma Public Library on 1st Street. I had just finished a quick work call at the cafe near the entrance and must have left them on the chair I sat in to stretch my back. They're a compact black set, two USB-C and one USB-A, with a blue cable tied to the bundle. I'm hoping someone picked them up and tucked them by the fountain near the library steps. It would mean a lot to have them back before my trip next week.

Black Sony Handycam with red strap

I lost my black Sony Handycam HDR-CX405 yesterday around 3pm. It was in a gray neoprene case with a bright red wrist strap. The camera is small, about the size of a paperback, and there's a tiny scratch on the top corner near the lens. Inside the case is a white sticker with my initials 'A.H.' on it. I was filming a short family video near the Yuma Civic Center on Main Street and I must have dropped it while crossing the crosswalk by the CVS on 2nd Ave. I'm really hoping to get it back - this one means a lot to me and it has sentimental value for our project.
