Lost wallet or purse — immediate steps

The first moves to make when your wallet or purse goes missing — cards, ID, and protecting yourself from fraud.

A lost wallet or purse in Vermont means two jobs at once: stopping fraud and replacing what's gone. The first hour matters most.

  1. Freeze your cards. Open each bank's app and freeze or cancel every debit and credit card. Most apps let you lock a card instantly and order a replacement.
  2. Check for unfamiliar activity. Review recent transactions and report anything you didn't make.
  3. Protect your identity. If ID was inside, take steps to guard against identity theft and consider a fraud alert or protective registration.
  4. Replace your ID and licence. Start replacements for your driver's licence or ID card through the relevant authority for your area.
  5. Retrace and report. Contact the last places you visited in Vermont and report the loss to the police non-emergency line if it may have been stolen.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-wallet listing for Vermont — many wallets are handed in and reunited this way.

Ray-Ban prescription glasses, tortoise frame

I’m Priya Patel, I lost my Ray-Ban prescription glasses with a tortoise frame. I last saw them yesterday around 3pm after I grabbed coffee near the Church Street Marketplace in Burlington. They’re a classic Wayfarer style, tortoise-colored frames with clear lenses. The left temple has a small scratch near the hinge, and there’s a tiny engraving of my initials 'PP' on the inside of the right arm. They’re in decent shape overall, just the usual wear from daily use. These glasses mean a lot to me—they’re my only pair for work and I need them back. If anyone finds them, please drop them at the Burlington Public Library or reply here; I’d be incredibly grateful.

Keys on green lanyard with Vermont charm

I lost my keys yesterday around 4pm outside the Burlington Farmers Market on Church Street in downtown Burlington, VT. They were on a bright green paracord lanyard with a small Vermont-shaped enamel charm and a black USB drive labeled 'Trip 2024.' The keys include a brass Yale house key, a car key fob for a Honda, and a dented apartment key; all on the lanyard. This set has sentimental value because it's my daily access to home and my bike lock. If anyone found them, text or call me; I can meet near Ben & Jerry's on Church Street to pick them up and say thanks.

Matte black Ray-Ban Wayfarer glasses (bent temple)

I lost my matte black Ray-Ban Wayfarer glasses yesterday around 3pm near the Church Street Marketplace in Burlington, Vermont. They're prescription lenses, adult size, with a small scratch on the right lens and a slight bend in the left temple. There's a tiny red sticker on the inside of the left temple—easy to spot if you flip them. They were a gift from my mom and mean a lot to me; I rely on them daily for work and driving, and I feel pretty lost without them. If you found them, please drop me a note; I'd really appreciate getting them back.
