Lost wallet or purse — immediate steps

The first moves to make when your wallet or purse goes missing — cards, ID, and protecting yourself from fraud.

A lost wallet or purse in Tyler / East TX means two jobs at once: stopping fraud and replacing what's gone. The first hour matters most.

  1. Freeze your cards. Open each bank's app and freeze or cancel every debit and credit card. Most apps let you lock a card instantly and order a replacement.
  2. Check for unfamiliar activity. Review recent transactions and report anything you didn't make.
  3. Protect your identity. If ID was inside, take steps to guard against identity theft and consider a fraud alert or protective registration.
  4. Replace your ID and licence. Start replacements for your driver's licence or ID card through the relevant authority for your area.
  5. Retrace and report. Contact the last places you visited in Tyler / East TX and report the loss to the police non-emergency line if it may have been stolen.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-wallet listing for Tyler / East TX — many wallets are handed in and reunited this way.

Keys on blue tag labeled Mom

I lost my keys yesterday around 3pm outside the Walmart on Troup Highway in Tyler, East Texas. It's a small silver keyring with a blue plastic tag that reads Mom in white letters, plus a couple spare keys and a brass house key. The blue tag is a bit scuffed and has a tiny dent on the corner. One of the keys has a red plastic head, and there’s also a basic car key; all attached to a black metal ring that's worn from daily use. These are the only keys I have for my apartment and my car, and they’re important to get back. The tag with Mom on it makes me really hopeful someone might recognize it as mine—please reach out if you’ve seen them.

Brown leather Coach wallet with sentimental photo

I lost my brown Coach wallet yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on South Broadway Ave in Tyler. It's a genuine brown leather wallet with a small coin pocket and a bit of wear from daily use. Inside are my driver's license, a few cards, and about $40 cash. In the back pocket there's a laminated photo of my grandma, and the inner lining is embossed with my initials ML. It really means a lot to me—it's a gift from my dad and holds sentimental value. If anyone found it, I’d be so grateful to get it back; I really need it back.

Ray-Ban Wayfarer glasses with initials on temple

I was grabbing coffee yesterday around 3pm near Broadway Square Mall in Tyler when I think I set them down on a chair outside the cafe. They are black Ray-Ban Wayfarers with a slight scratch on the right temple and initials 'LJ' engraved on the inside of the left temple. They mean a lot to me -- they were a gift from my sister and I can't see well without them. If anyone found them, I would really appreciate a quick meetup by the mall entrance so I can get them back.

Lost set of keys with a distinctive blue keyring and small charm at Tyler Square shopping area.

I lost my set of keys while shopping at the Tyler Square. They have several keys attached, including my house key and a distinctive blue keyring with a small charm on it. I'm really hoping someone might have picked them up. This happened on the afternoon of October 15th, 2023, while I was in and out of a couple of stores.
