Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Stockton, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Stockton and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Stockton so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Bearded dragon missing near Miracle Mile

I lost my bearded dragon yesterday around 3pm. He's about 12 inches long from head to tail, with a sandy tan body and vivid orange markings along his spine. There's a tiny blue dot near his left nostril and a slightly crooked tail tip from a past molt. He was last seen near the Miracle Mile shopping district on Pacific Ave, around the Trader Joe's parking lot between Main and Stanislaus streets in Stockton. This little guy means a lot to me—he's helped me through tough days, and I'm really worried he wandered off. If you spot him, send me a message and I'll come grab him quickly.

Leopard gecko lost in Stockton

I lost my leopard gecko yesterday around 3pm. It's about 4 inches long, beige with orange spots, and a slightly darker tail tip. It was in a gray plastic terrarium with a heat pad, and I last had it near the Bob Hope Theatre on Center Street in downtown Stockton. There's a tiny blue dot near its left hip and a small kink in the tail from a previous molt, so it’s easy to spot if you’ve handled it. This gecko was a gift to my daughter and means the world to us, so we’re really hoping it turns up safe.

Bearded dragon, sunburst morph, orange beard, tail scar

I lost my bearded dragon, a sunburst morph named Cinder, yesterday around 3pm near the Trader Joe's on Pacific Avenue in Stockton. He's about 6 inches long from snout to tail, with bright orange beard that flares when he is stressed and a lighter striped pattern along his back. He has a small healed scar on the left nostril from an old shed and a tiny curved tail with a slightly ragged tip. He is generally calm but gets skittish around people he does not know. This little guy means a lot to me—he has been part of our family for years, and I would really appreciate the return if anyone spots him.

Gray-white dwarf hamster with black ear patch

I lost my gray-white dwarf hamster yesterday around 3pm near the Stockton Downtown Library, right at the corner of 6th Street and Market Street. It's a tiny ball of fur the size of a ping-pong ball, with soft gray fur on top, a white belly, and a distinctive black patch on its left ear. There's a crescent-shaped scar on its right hind leg from a tumble last month. It squeaks softly when excited and loves running on its wheel, even around strangers. This little guy means a lot to me—he was a gift from my grandmother—and I really need him back. If you found him, drop me a message at [email protected].
