Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Statesboro is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Statesboro — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Statesboro so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Lost GPS Devices in Statesboro

Yesterday around 5:30 p.m., I realized my GPS Devices were missing after I stopped by the Zach S. Henderson Library on East Main Street and walked toward the Averitt Center for the Arts. The devices are a compact black pair in a blue case, loaded with maps I use for fieldwork around Statesboro. I’m anxious about replacing them because they contain routes and offline maps I rely on daily. If you happened to see them near the library or along Main Street, I’d appreciate any information.

Nintendo Switch OLED with neon Joy-Cons

I lost my Nintendo Switch OLED yesterday around 3pm. It's the white handheld with neon red and blue Joy-Cons, tucked inside a black protective case with a white dock. There’s a Pokemon sticker on the dock and a faint scratch on the screen protector near the top corner. I last saw it outside the CVS on South Main Street in Statesboro, near the crosswalk by the parking lot. This gaming setup means a lot to me—it helps me unwind after long shifts, and it was a gift from my sister, so I’d be incredibly grateful to get it back.

Lost black JBL Flip 5 wireless portable speaker with a small dent, lost around Downtown Statesboro near a coffee shop.

I lost my black JBL Flip 5 wireless portable speaker while walking around Downtown Statesboro last Saturday. It might have slipped out of my bag when I stopped at the coffee shop. The speaker has a small dent on one corner from previous usage, but it still works perfectly. I really hope someone can help me find it!
