Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Space Coast, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Space Coast and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Space Coast so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Golden guinea pig with white chest patch

I lost my golden guinea pig yesterday around 4:15pm near the Cocoa Beach Pier on Space Coast. He's about 9 inches long, with a two-tone coat — golden brown on top and a white heart-shaped patch on his chest — and his left ear has a tiny white tip. He was in a small blue travel cage with a yellow Kaytee sticker, and I last saw him dart under the boardwalk by the pier while I was calling for him. This is my daughter's pet, and it means the world to us; we’re really worried and would be grateful to get him back.

Leopard gecko with orange spots, missing since yesterday

I lost my leopard gecko with orange spots yesterday around 3:15 pm. It is a small, about 4 inches long gecko with a tan base and vivid orange saddles along its back. I last saw him in my Space Coast apartment in Palm Bay, near the Cocoa Village area off Malabar Road, curled behind the sofa next to a warm heat lamp. He is pretty skittish and tends to freeze when people approach. He also has a tiny white dot on his left hind toe and a faint blue tint to the tail that shines under the lamp, which should help you spot him. If you find him, please message me right away; he means the world to me and I am really worried.

Cream tabby cat with collar lost near Cocoa Beach Pier

I was at the Cocoa Beach Pier area yesterday around 4pm when my cream tabby cat darted away. He's a medium-sized indoor-outdoor cat with a soft cream coat, a white chin, and a tiny white patch on his chest. He wears a faded blue collar with a tiny bell that jingles when he walks. Last seen near the boardwalk's souvenir shops, around the parking area on 3rd Street. He’s friendly but gets overwhelmed by crowds, so he tends to hide in bushes or under parked cars. I really need him back—he’s been with me since I adopted him as a kitten and it would crush me if something happened to him. If you spot him, please message me here and I’ll meet you to pick him up.
