Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Show Low, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Show Low and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Show Low so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Lost blue parakeet with yellow crown

I lost my blue parakeet yesterday around 4pm near the Show Low Public Library on Deuce of Clubs. It's a small parakeet, mostly sky blue with a bright yellow crown and a few green-tinted wing feathers. He’s about 6 inches tall and a bit shy, but he sometimes calls out 'Pico' when he hears a familiar voice. He has a tiny silver leg band on his right leg and a small white patch on the tail feather—the kind of mark you can't miss if you know him. This bird means the world to me; it was a gift from my daughter and has sentimental value. If anyone found him, please get in touch; I’m really hoping to bring him home tonight.

Golden retriever with red collar

I lost my golden retriever yesterday around 3pm near the Walmart on White Mountain Boulevard in Show Low. He’s a big, friendly dog with a fluffy golden coat, white chest patch, and a bright red collar with a brass tag that says Milo. He’s about sixty pounds and tends to wag his tail so hard that his whole body wags too. If you’ve seen him wandering near the parking lot or by the gas station, please reach out — he’s family and we’re really hoping to bring him home today.

Cream-colored Aussie-Shepherd mix with blue collar

I lost my cream-colored Australian Shepherd mix named Milo yesterday around 3pm near the Show Low City Park along West Deuce of Clubs. Milo is about 45 pounds, with a white blaze on his chest, one ear that flops, and a blue collar with a small silver tag that says 'MILO'. He has a blue eye and a brown eye, and he’s microchipped. He’s friendly but a bit wary of strangers, and he’s my hiking buddy—I’m really hoping he’s found and brought home soon.
