Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Seattle-Tacoma is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Seattle-Tacoma — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Seattle-Tacoma so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

lost drones near Seattle-Tacoma area

I lost my Drones after a quick, windy test flight on Tuesday around 7:15 p.m. at Gas Works Park on the northwest shore of Lake Union in Seattle. I was packing up after a sunset shot when the drone's case slipped from my tether and vanished into the trees. The last sighting was near the hill by the old water tower, with the drone's red LED blinking faintly in the fading light. My hands are empty and my heart heavy because this kit was a gift and held a lot of last-minute footage I can't replace. If anyone found it, please know it's more than metal and screws to me.

Nintendo Switch OLED with red/blue Joy-Cons

I lost my black Nintendo Switch OLED with red and blue Joy-Cons yesterday around 3pm near Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle, Seattle-Tacoma. It’s in a clear protective case with a small phoenix sticker on the back and a faint scratch along the bottom edge. This device is my main way to unwind after long shifts, and it also holds a lot of saved progress from co-op games; it was a gift from my sister last Christmas, so it has sentimental value. If anyone found it, please message me—I'd be endlessly grateful to get it back.
