Lost wallet or purse — immediate steps

The first moves to make when your wallet or purse goes missing — cards, ID, and protecting yourself from fraud.

A lost wallet or purse in Santa Fe / Taos means two jobs at once: stopping fraud and replacing what's gone. The first hour matters most.

  1. Freeze your cards. Open each bank's app and freeze or cancel every debit and credit card. Most apps let you lock a card instantly and order a replacement.
  2. Check for unfamiliar activity. Review recent transactions and report anything you didn't make.
  3. Protect your identity. If ID was inside, take steps to guard against identity theft and consider a fraud alert or protective registration.
  4. Replace your ID and licence. Start replacements for your driver's licence or ID card through the relevant authority for your area.
  5. Retrace and report. Contact the last places you visited in Santa Fe / Taos and report the loss to the police non-emergency line if it may have been stolen.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-wallet listing for Santa Fe / Taos — many wallets are handed in and reunited this way.

Brass keys with turquoise hummingbird charm

I lost my keys yesterday around 3pm outside The Shed on Palace Avenue, near the Santa Fe Plaza. It's a small brass keyring holding two keys—a Schlage house key and a car key—with a bright blue nylon lanyard and a turquoise hummingbird charm attached. The charm has my initials 'PV' engraved on the back, and the house key has a tiny dent near the tip. The ring is a bit worn and sentimental because these are the keys to my apartment and daily routine when I’m painting downtown. If someone found them, I’d be grateful to get them back—this set really means a lot to me.

Slim black keyring with brass bear pendant

I lost my slim black keyring yesterday around 5:15 pm outside the Lensic Performing Arts Center on Palace Ave, just off the Santa Fe Plaza. It clings to two house keys and my car key, plus a tiny brass bear pendant that's got a few nicks on its back. There's also a small red enamel heart tag with 'Home' stamped in cursive. The metal isn't shiny anymore and the ring shows wear from daily use. That bear pendant was a gift from my grandmother, so it means a lot to me—really hoping it turns up. If you found it, please message me; I would be forever grateful to get it back.

Lost pair of tortoiseshell round glasses with gold accents and a scratch on the right lens near the plaza during the Santa Fe arts festival.

I lost my favorite pair of tortoiseshell glasses near the plaza during the Santa Fe arts festival last weekend. They have a unique round shape with gold accents and a small scratch on the right lens. I was wearing them when I stopped to get some coffee, but somehow I couldn't find them when I got back to my car. If anyone comes across them, I would really appreciate your help!
