Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around San Luis Obispo are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for San Luis Obispo in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost: Sheet Music near Mission Plaza

I was at Mission Plaza on Osos Street around 11:20 a.m. this morning, practicing scales for a recital when I realized my sheet music was missing from the folder. It's a standard black binder with a pink cover and a pencil-marked page that I use for my latest composition. Without it, my rehearsal sounds flat, and I'm anxious about the upcoming performance. I hope someone in the area picked it up and kept it safe until I can replace it.

Lost GPS devices in San Luis Obispo

Hi, I’m Daniel Kim. I’ve got two GPS devices in a rugged black case that I use for weekend hikes. I realized they were missing around 4:15 p.m. last Sunday after I grabbed a coffee on Higuera Street and turned the corner toward Bubblegum Alley. My stomach dropped because those gadgets map out the places I love most in San Luis Obispo. If you’ve seen them, please help by returning them through the site. They’re small, but they mean a lot to my plans.

Lost belts near Mission Plaza, SLO

I’m posting because I lost two belts somewhere around Mission Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo. It was around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, after I stopped for coffee and a quick chat with a friend at the corner by Bubblegum Alley. One belt is brown leather with a brass buckle, the other a black fabric strap with a red stitch along the edge—simple, but they feel like little anchors from home. If anyone found them between the fountain and the farmers market stalls, I’d be grateful to hear they’ve turned up so I can pick them up here on the website.

Gray tabby with blue collar and bell

Lost my gray tabby yesterday around 7pm near Mission Plaza on Monterey Street, by the SLO Creek Trail. She’s a medium-sized cat, about 9 pounds, with a blue collar and a tiny silver bell that jingles when she moves. She has a white chest and a small white patch on her left paw, plus a faint scar above her right eye—she’s got a few unique quirks people notice. This cat is my constant companion and a gift from my mom, so I’m really hoping she comes home soon.
