Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in San Antonio is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for San Antonio — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for San Antonio so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Nintendo Switch OLED with red/blue Joy-Cons—lost

I lost my Nintendo Switch OLED yesterday around 3pm. It's the neon red/blue Joy-Con model, in a black protective case, with a rocket ship sticker on the dock and a small scratch on the bottom-right corner. I was near the River Walk entrance by the Arneson River Theatre along Market Street in San Antonio when it disappeared. This device is sentimental to me—it was my first big purchase with my own money and it holds saved progress on a long-running RPG. If anyone spotted it, please message me here and we can arrange a safe downtown meetup.

Nintendo Switch OLED with neon Joy-Cons

I lost my Nintendo Switch OLED yesterday around 3pm. It’s the white console with neon blue and neon red Joy-Cons, tucked inside a black protective case with a tiny cactus sticker on the front. I last had it near Alamo Plaza by the River Walk entrance in San Antonio. The screen has a few light scratches, and the case shows wear from daily use. This thing is how I unwind after long days, and it also helps with school projects, so I’d really appreciate getting it back. If you’ve seen it, please reach out.

Black Beats Studio3 wireless headphones with blue star sticker

I lost my black Beats Studio3 Wireless headphones yesterday around 3pm near the Alamo Plaza and the River Walk entrance on Commerce Street. They’re in decent shape, matte black with a few minor scuffs on the right earcup, and the leather headband is still comfy. They come with a gray hardshell case that has a small blue star sticker on the inside and a faint dent on the bottom corner. This device keeps me sane on my commutes and during long work calls, so I really need them back. If you found them, please email me at [email protected].

Lost Nintendo Switch in black carrying case with a few scratches and games at the coffee shop on Alamo Plaza.

I accidentally left my Nintendo Switch in its black carrying case at the coffee shop on Alamo Plaza last Friday. It has a few scratches on the back and contains a couple of my favorite games, including 'Breath of the Wild'. I'm really hoping someone might have seen it around San Antonio.

Lost Nintendo Switch with blue and red controllers and Zelda-themed case near the River Walk in San Antonio.

I lost my Nintendo Switch last night while I was walking around the River Walk in San Antonio. It has a blue and red controller and a Zelda-themed case. I remember setting it down to take a picture, and when I turned back to grab it, it was gone. I really hope someone picked it up and can help me get it back.
