I placed two xylophones in their light-green cases on a curb by the rehearsal hall while I handed out flyers. When I turned back five minutes later, they were gone. The cases have brass latches and a faint wood grain; inside are two student xylophones with mallets. The area was busy, with pedestrians along Gibbs Street and the Genesee River nearby, so I’m hopeful someone who found them handed them to a security desk. I’m crushed—these instruments are priceless to my students, and I’m worried about delays for our spring concert. Please, if you see them, keep them safe.
