What to do when you find someone else's property — your responsibilities and how to return it safely.

I was wandering along Virginia Street by the Truckee River, near the Riverwalk and the Silver Legacy, around 8:10 PM last Friday when I spotted a stack of CDs lying on the sidewalk. Most covers were classic rock and indie, some with sticky notes stuck to the cases. I picked them up and left them on a bench near Wingfield Park, hoping the owner would recognize a clue among the tracks. It felt a little like finding a message in a bottle—shared music and a moment of luck in downtown Reno.

I found a gray wool scarf this afternoon around 2:45pm outside the Silver Legacy Resort Casino on the Reno Strip (Virginia Street). It's a medium-length scarf, soft but showing a little wear from winter. The standout details are a bright orange pom-pom at one end and a small embroidered monogram 'PD' near the edge. The scarf has a slightly nubby texture and a faint coffee scent from a nearby café. Black North Face puffer jacket found in Reno

I found a black North Face puffer jacket, size M, with a bright red interior, this morning around 8:30am. It was in the parking lot behind the Atlantis Casino on Virginia Street in Reno, near the valet area. The jacket is in good condition overall, just a small snag on the left forearm and a blue enamel snowflake zipper pull that stands out. The red lining is easy to spot, and I can imagine it belonged to someone who really needs it back after the chilly nights. Keys on blue paracord with snowboard charm

Found a set of keys this morning around 8:15am in the parking garage behind the Grand Sierra Resort on East Second Street in Reno. They're attached to a bright blue paracord lanyard, with a small snowboard charm and a red Toyota key fob. There are a few large house keys and a tiny black USB drive clipped to the ring, and the snowboard charm is pretty distinctive. The keys look a little worn, but easy to spot among other things. If someone recognizes these, I’d love to get them back to you—happy to meet up near the Grand Sierra or leave them with the front desk at the hotel.

Found a DeWalt 20V cordless drill in a red and black hard case outside the Home Depot on Kietzke Lane in Reno this afternoon around 3:15 pm. The drill is in decent shape, with a small dent on the case corner and a bright orange 20V battery attached. There’s a tiny green sticker on the lid with the number 1124, and a set of drill bits tucked in the case pocket. I figured someone might be missing it, so I grabbed it and brought it here.
