Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Portland are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Portland in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost Dresses in Downtown Portland, OR

At about 4:15 PM last Saturday, I realized my dresses were missing while I was leaving a coffee cart near Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland. I must have left them on a chair outside the shop; the chairs were still there, but the dresses were gone. The two dresses are a bold floral maxi and a soft pink satin, both gifts that mattered to me. I'm hoping someone honest found them and turned them in to the lost and found at the square.

Lost sandals near Pioneer Courthouse Square, Portland

I lost my sandals near Pioneer Courthouse Square last Friday at about 6:30 PM when I realized they were gone. They are tan leather with a bright blue strap and a small scuff on the toe of the left sandal. I had been wandering from Powell's Books toward Waterfront Park, chatting with a friend about the rain, and I must have set them down somewhere along the plaza. I feel frustrated and hopeful at the same time, because these sandals are comfy and I wore them all summer.

LOST dining chairs in Portland

At 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, I realized my two wooden dining chairs were missing from the back patio of my apartment on NW 23rd Ave, just a block from Jamison Square. They’re simple chairs with cream-painted legs and a small chip on one leg. The space where they stood now feels hollow, and I keep thinking of the meals we shared around that table. If you found them or tucked them out of sight for safekeeping, I’d be grateful to have them back.

lost hoops near Pioneer Courthouse Square, Portland

I was wandering downtown Portland this Saturday at 3:45 p.m., checking my map and enjoying the spring sun, when I realized my hoops were gone. They are a pair of silver hoop earrings with a tiny turquoise bead that my aunt gave me, a small bright reminder of family. I had them on near Pioneer Courthouse Square, right by the bus stop, and I must have dropped them while I nursed a cup of coffee. The square was crowded with kids, street musicians, and the scent of roasted nuts in the air. It bums me out to think they are out there somewhere. If you found them in the area, please hold onto them until I can pick them up.

Lost sheets after move, Portland, OR.

I was helping a friend move in the Pearl District, Portland, on Sunday around 9:15 p.m. When I finished cleaning the guest room, I realized a queen-size set of white sheets with a charcoal stripe had vanished from the bed. I checked the apartment, the hallway closet, the laundry room, and the building lobby, but they didn’t turn up. The sheets are soft cotton, with a faint lavender thread that makes them easy to spot if you fold them. It feels frustrating and a little lonely not having them for the new place. If they show up, I’d be grateful for any help finding them.

Lost sheet music outside Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall

I lost a binder of sheet music outside the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on SW Broadway around 9:20 PM last Friday after a small rehearsal. I turned around to pick up a score I dropped near the entrance, but the evening crowd rolled in and the pages disappeared into the glow of streetlights. The binder is red with a sticker that says 'Portland Symphony' and a handful of worn notes I’ve practiced for months. Those sheets mean more than music to me; they’re tied to late-night practice and a hopeful performance. If you found it, please keep it safe for me to retrieve at the end of the week.
