Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Philadelphia is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Philadelphia — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Philadelphia so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Lost memory cards during morning rush near Liberty Place

I was shooting a small portrait set at Liberty Place this morning around 9:15 am. My camera bag slipped from my shoulder as I stepped off the escalator, and the memory cards spilled into the crack between a seating ledge and the bench. The cards hold travel photos and a few personal backups—nothing irreplaceable, but the work and memories mean a lot to me. I scanned the seating area and retraced my steps from Liberty Place toward City Hall, then along Broad Street toward 15th Street, but the crowd swallowed any trace. I’m hoping someone picked them up and turned them in.

Nintendo Switch OLED with neon Joy-Cons, lost

I lost my Nintendo Switch OLED yesterday around 3pm near City Hall on Market Street, Philadelphia. It's in a gray protective case with the white dock. The Joy-Cons are neon red and neon blue. On the back there's a small green cat sticker, and the initials 'PD' are etched near the USB-C port. It's the only thing that helps me unwind after long shifts, and it has sentimental value—I’d really appreciate getting it back.

Nintendo Switch OLED with red/blue Joy-Cons

I lost my Nintendo Switch OLED in a transparent silicone case with a panda sticker on the back. Yesterday around 3pm, I left it outside the Starbucks on Walnut Street by 18th in Philadelphia. It's the compact handheld Switch OLED with neon red and blue Joy-Cons; the case has a panda sticker, and there's a tiny scratch on the bottom edge of the screen plus a faint crack in the screen protector. It was a gift from my sister and I really need it back—it's my main way to unwind after work, and I’m worried without it.

Azure Blue Yeti USB mic with windscreen

I lost my Azure Blue Yeti USB microphone yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Market Street, right outside City Hall in Center City Philadelphia. It’s the blue-model Yeti with a detachable black pop filter, a gray foam windscreen, and a small dent in the bottom edge; the USB cable is a bit frayed under the stand. I rely on it for my weekly podcast recordings and a few client calls, so it has real value beyond just the gear. If anyone found it, please reach out— I really need it back. There’s a tiny scribble on the base with my initials, though the print is faint.
