Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Peoria is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Peoria — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Peoria so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Lost gray Plantronics wireless headset

Lost a compact wireless headset yesterday around 3pm near the Peoria Public Library on Main Street in downtown Peoria. It's a gray and black Plantronics headset, roughly the size of a small paperback, with a red LED glow on the right earcup. The charging case has a tiny dent on the top edge and a white sticker with the initials 'A.N.' inside the lid. It was a gift from my sister last summer and really means a lot to me—I use it for work calls and my commute, so I hope it turns up. If anyone found it, please message me; I would be grateful to get it back.

Black Sony earbuds in charging case

I lost my black Sony WF-1000XM4 wireless earbuds yesterday around 3pm near the Peoria Public Library on Main Street. They were in a matte black charging case with a small scratch along the lid, and the left earbud has a tiny dent on the outer shell. The right earbud is in good shape, and the tips show a little wear. I’ve used them every day for work and commuting, and having them back would mean a lot. They were a gift from my sister, so they’re sentimental beyond value. If anyone found them, please get in touch here—I’d really appreciate getting them back.

Lost Nintendo Switch with blue and red Joy-Con and scratched back in Peoria Mall parking lot.

I lost my Nintendo Switch, along with a few game cartridges, in the parking lot of the Peoria Mall on October 10th. I can't remember if I left it in the car or if it slipped out while I was walking to the entrance. It has a blue and red Joy-Con attached and some scratches on the back.

Lost black JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker with scratches in downtown Peoria parks.

I lost my black JBL Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker while walking at the parks in downtown Peoria last weekend. It has a few scratches but plays perfectly. I didn't realize I had dropped it until I got home, and I retraced my steps but couldn't find it. If anyone has seen it or picked it up, I’d really appreciate it if you could let me know!
