Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Palm Springs, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Palm Springs and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Palm Springs so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Lost beagle mix dog, tan and white, near Palm Springs

I lost my beagle mix, Milo, yesterday around 3pm somewhere near the Ace Hotel & Swim Club on North Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. He's medium-sized, about 25 pounds, with a tan and white coat, a white heart-shaped patch on his chest, and a small scar on his left hind leg. He wears a blue nylon collar with a bone-shaped tag. He’s super friendly but gets anxious when he's away from me, and this dog is really important to my family—it's my daughter's rescue and holds a lot of sentimental value. Ruth Hardy Park is around the area, so if you saw him or think you saw him, email me at [email protected] with any sightings or tips.

Orange-yellow bearded dragon, missing from Palm Springs

I lost my bearded dragon, Ember, yesterday around 3pm. He's about 6 inches long from head to tail, orange with yellow speckles and a darker stripe along his back. He slipped out of his terrarium by the front door of my apartment near the Trader Joe's on Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. He has a tiny white scar on his left nostril and a slightly notched tail tip. I’m really worried—he’s the only pet I have and he means a lot to me; if you've seen him, text me and I’ll come right away to pick him up.
