Lost wallet or purse — immediate steps

The first moves to make when your wallet or purse goes missing — cards, ID, and protecting yourself from fraud.

A lost wallet or purse in Northern Panhandle means two jobs at once: stopping fraud and replacing what's gone. The first hour matters most.

  1. Freeze your cards. Open each bank's app and freeze or cancel every debit and credit card. Most apps let you lock a card instantly and order a replacement.
  2. Check for unfamiliar activity. Review recent transactions and report anything you didn't make.
  3. Protect your identity. If ID was inside, take steps to guard against identity theft and consider a fraud alert or protective registration.
  4. Replace your ID and licence. Start replacements for your driver's licence or ID card through the relevant authority for your area.
  5. Retrace and report. Contact the last places you visited in Northern Panhandle and report the loss to the police non-emergency line if it may have been stolen.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-wallet listing for Northern Panhandle — many wallets are handed in and reunited this way.

Black Coach wallet with gold logo

Lost my black Coach wallet yesterday around 3pm after a coffee break near Heritage Port on Market Street in the Northern Panhandle. It's a black leather zip-around wallet, a bit worn, about the size of a passport, with a gold Coach logo on the front and a faint coffee stain on the back. Inside are my driver's license, two credit cards, about $60 in cash, and a small photo of my grandmother. The inner lining has a thin red stitch and there's a tiny dent in the bottom-right corner. This wallet matters a lot to me—it was a gift from my grandmother—so I’d really appreciate getting it back if anyone found it.

Black Ray-Ban rectangular glasses with red case

I lost my black Ray-Ban rectangular glasses yesterday around 3pm. They’re matte black plastic frames, medium size, with a tiny silver Ray-Ban logo on the temple. The left temple is slightly bent and there’s a small scratch on the upper left lens. They were in a red soft-case with a white scuff, and I think I left them outside the Market Street coffee shop by the Ohio Riverfront in downtown Wheeling, in the Northern Panhandle. They’re sentimental to me because they were a gift from my grandmother, and I’d really appreciate getting them back. Reach me at [email protected] if you found them.

Lost brown leather wallet with silver clasp containing ID, credit cards, and family photos near the river in the Northern Panhandle.

I lost a brown leather wallet with a silver clasp while walking along the river in the Northern Panhandle. It contains my ID, a couple of credit cards, and some family photos that are really special to me. I last remember having it when I stopped to take a picture of the sunset.
