FOUND: equipment for various sports near the riverfront.
I found equipment for various sports along the riverfront path near North Platte's downtown park at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. A navy duffel bag held a soccer ball, tennis rackets, shin guards, a baseball glove, and a whistle on a lanyard. It’s the kind of kit that means weekend practices, after-school leagues, and a little team pride. I pictured the player rushing back after practice, probably frustrated and worried, and felt a surge of relief at the thought of reuniting them with their stuff. I left everything together in a neat bundle, ready to be picked up by the front desk at the community center so the owner can reclaim it.
Framed acrylic landscape with signature
I found a framed acrylic landscape painting this afternoon around 2:15pm in the parking lot behind the North Platte Train Depot on Front Street. It's an 18x24 inch piece in a dark oak frame with a thin gold inner rim and a small scratch along the bottom edge. There’s a handwritten note on the back with the title 'Prairie Sunset' and a cursive signature that looks like 'M. Ortiz'. I’ll hold onto it here in case it belongs to someone, and we can arrange a pickup in North Platte when the owner is reached.
Found a vibrant red and yellow toy dump truck with scratches near the playground in Cody Park.
I found a vibrant red and yellow toy dump truck in Cody Park in North Platte while taking a stroll this morning. It was left near the playground, and it looks like it could belong to a little one who might be missing it. It even has a few scratches, showing it's been well-loved. I want to return it to its owner if they come looking for it!
