Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around New Orleans are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for New Orleans in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost power tools near Magazine Street, New Orleans

I was wrapping up a quick remodel and realized the drill and circular saw were lost. I was wrapping up a quick remodel and realized the drill and circular saw were lost. I was wrapping up a quick remodel and realized the drill and circular saw were lost. When I came back, the tools were gone and the space looked untouched, which makes me think someone might have picked them up by mistake. I checked the porch and the alley behind the building, but nothing turned up. I’m hoping a kind soul found them and held onto them; they’re essential for finishing a project at the house near the French Market.

Lost driver's license in New Orleans

Today, around 3:15 PM, I must have dropped my driver's license somewhere in the French Quarter, near Café du Monde at Jackson Square. I was hopping between street vendors and a brass band when I realized it was missing after I checked my wallet at a stoplight. The license is a standard card with my photo and name; I’m anxious because I need it for travel and ID checks tomorrow. I’ve been replaying the walk along Bourbon Street, hoping someone picked it up and held onto it.

lost: Carry-ons in New Orleans, LA

I lost my Carry-ons during a stroll through the French Quarter last weekend. It was around 3:42 p.m. on Saturday, near Jackson Square, while I stopped for a quick coffee and map check. My carry-ons include a striped tote and a small gray backpack with a red tag. The crowd hummed with street music, and the sun slanted through the iron balconies, turning the cobblestones gold. Losing them felt like losing a piece of my travel plans and the sense of safety they carried—snacks, sunscreen, a favorite hoodie tucked away inside. The bags are sturdy, with a sun-faded leather patch.

Lost sheet music in the French Quarter

Lost sheet music from my brass ensemble. I was rehearsing with friends on a humid Friday evening, about 6:15 p.m., near the French Market along the riverfront in New Orleans. I set the binder on a bench by a beignet vendor and stepped away for a moment to grab a quick drink. When I got back, the pages, with my name on the cover, were gone, and the crowd had already swallowed the street in music and chatter. It is a personal collection I have spent weeks on, and I hope someone found it and kept it safe until I can be reunited with it.

Lost sports gear near City Park, New Orleans

Hi, Marie LeBlanc here. I lost my equipment for various sports after a morning workout on Tuesday around 7:45 a.m. I had left a gym bag filled with tennis racquets, a basketball, and a pair of cleats near the City Park jogging path, just east of the large oak trees by the lake. The bag has a bright yellow strap and a blue towel sticking out of the zipper. I’m anxious because that gear is for games and practice and also full of memories. If you came across it, I’d really appreciate any help locating it.

Lost Holiday Decorations — French Quarter

I’m Lena Dupont, a neighbor who loves a good lights display. I lost my Holiday Decorations last Friday at 8:15 p.m., while I was taking down the lights on Decatur Street near Jackson Square. The set includes two oversized garlands, a copper star, a string of warm-white bulbs, and a small Santa ornament. I left the bin by a bench near the French Market as I stepped to check a text, and when I came back, they were gone. I’ve walked the length of the French Quarter and asked at a couple of cafes, hoping the glow would guide someone to them. If you’ve seen them, they’re mine and I’d be grateful to have them back.
