Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Myrtle Beach is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Myrtle Beach — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Myrtle Beach so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Black iPhone 12 Pro Max with pink-heart case

I lost my black iPhone 12 Pro Max yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach. It's in a blue silicone case with a tiny pink heart sticker on the back; the case has a slight wear on the corner. The screen is cracked along the top edge and the phone is running a little slow, which I know sounds basic, but this one has a lot of photos and work notes that I can't replace. It means a lot to me—it's basically my lifeline for family and work. If you found it, please text or email me at [email protected]; I'd be forever grateful.

Blue iPhone 13 Pro in OtterBox case

I lost my blue iPhone 13 Pro in an OtterBox case yesterday around 3pm. I think I dropped it near the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk along Ocean Boulevard, by the SkyWheel. The screen is still fine, but the bottom-left corner has a crack and there’s a small dent along the left edge. The back has a faded green turtle sticker I added last year. It’s full of family photos and work notes, so it means a lot to me and I’d really love to get it back. If you found it, I’d be grateful to have it returned to its rightful owner.

Nintendo Switch OLED with red/blue Joy-Cons

I lost my Nintendo Switch OLED yesterday around 3pm in Myrtle Beach. It’s the white model with red and blue Joy-Cons, in a blue silicone case, and there’s a small Mario sticker on the back. It has a minor scratch along the bottom edge from a fall last week, but the screen is still bright and responsive. I last had it near the arcade by Margaritaville at Broadway at the Beach, close to the entrance where families gather for photos. This device is my downtime when I’m traveling for work, and it’s really sentimental to me. If anyone found it, I’d be forever grateful to get it back.
