Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Muncie / Anderson is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Muncie / Anderson — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Muncie / Anderson so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Lost Handheld and Console in Muncie

Last Friday at 6:50 PM, I realized my handheld console and a spare controller were missing from my backpack after I left the Minnetrista Cultural Center in Muncie. I had paused by the fountain near the entrance and must have left them on a bench before heading to my car. The handheld is black with a cracked screen, and the controller is purple with a few faded stickers, nothing flashy but they're mine. I'd be grateful to get them back; they're part of my weekly game nights with friends.

Black Anker wireless charging pad with blue KC initials

Hey, I lost my black Anker wireless charging pad, an essential electronic accessory, yesterday around 3pm near the Starbucks on Walnut Street by McKinley Ave in Muncie. It's the slim, matte-black pad about the size of a coaster, with the Anker logo in silver and a frayed USB-C cable. I stuck a small blue sticker with my initials KC on the underside to mark it, so you can spot it. This charger is what I rely on every day and it has sentimental value because it was the one I bought after my old charger died. If you found it, please drop me a message—I’d really appreciate getting it back.

Black Anker PowerCore 10000 charger

I lost my black Anker PowerCore 10000 portable charger yesterday around 3pm. It’s the compact, matte black one with a tiny dent on the top edge and a little white sticker with 'PP' on the back. I had tucked a bright red USB-C cable into the pouch, and the case is slightly scuffed from daily use. It was last seen near the Starbucks on Bethel Avenue by Ball State University, around the campus bookstore area, while I was heading back to the Student Center. Losing it is frustrating because it's how I keep my phone and tablet charged during long classes and it also holds several class notes; it would mean a lot to get it back.

Charcoal Anker PowerCore 10000 charger

I'm missing my Anker PowerCore 10000 portable charger, charcoal gray with a lime-green USB-C cable attached. I last had it yesterday around 6pm outside the Starbucks by the Muncie Mall on McGalliard Road, near the bus stop at the entrance. There's a small dent on the metal edge and the lime cable is a bit frayed near the USB-C end, plus the Anker logo is visible on the side. It's listed under Miscellaneous Electronics, and it's my daily lifeline for work calls and deadlines, so I'd really appreciate it if someone found it. If you've seen it, email me at [email protected].
