Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Moses Lake, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Moses Lake and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Moses Lake so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Calico tabby cat with green bell collar

I lost my calico tabby cat, Luna, yesterday around 3pm after she slipped out of our apartment near the Walmart on Stratford Road in Moses Lake. She’s a medium-sized cat with orange, black, and white patches, and she’s wearing a bright green collar with a tiny silver bell. I noticed a tiny brown speck on the tip of her nose and a small white patch on her left ear, plus a white patch on her back left paw—really distinctive when you spot her. She’s usually an indoor-outdoor cat who sticks close to home and comes when I call, but she bolted and hasn’t come back. If anyone sees her, please text me. I’m really hoping to bring Luna home soon.

Brown Labrador mix with blue collar

I lost my brown Labrador mix yesterday around 3pm near the Walmart on West Broadway Ave in Moses Lake. He’s about 60 pounds, with short fur and a white patch on his chest. He wears a blue collar with a chipped bone-shaped tag, and there’s a small notch in his left ear from a fence scrape. He’s usually super friendly and loves people, so I’m really worried and miss our long walks. If you’ve seen him, please drop a note here or reach out through the app—he’s more than a pet, he’s family.

Blue Ruffwear harness with orange leash

I lost my blue Ruffwear dog harness yesterday around 3pm near the Safeway on East Broadway by Columbia Park in Moses Lake. It's a Ruffwear Front Range harness, size large, in good condition with a bright orange padding and a reflective strip along the neck. There’s a small fray on the left strap near the D-ring and a tiny paw-print embroidery on the chest strap—easy to spot. It also had a matching orange leash attached, but more importantly Pepper, my rescue dog, only walked well with that harness on; it has sentimental value and I’m really hoping it’s turned in. If anyone found it, I’d be grateful to get it back!
