I was at Bonita Lakes Park around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the sky turning pink over the water. My flute case rode on my back as I walked the loop near the boat ramp; a gust knocked loose the lid and the flutes slipped away. By the time I reached my car, they were gone. Those flutes matter to me for an audition at the Riley Center, and I’ve practiced for weeks in preparation. I’m hoping someone found them and tucked them somewhere safe—the park, the library, anywhere I can easily pick them up.
