Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Memphis are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Memphis in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

lost: Equipment for Various Sports in Memphis near Beale Street

I lost my Equipment for Various Sports around 6:15 pm Friday at Tom Lee Park in Memphis, Tennessee, after a casual game. I had set my dark navy duffel down near the basketball courts while I tied my sneakers, and when I turned back it was gone. Inside was a mix of gear—a worn tennis racket, a pair of training shoes, and a well-loved basketball—nothing flashy, but each piece mattered to me. I’m sick thinking about replacing it, and I keep hoping someone who picked it up will bring it back to the park office where I’d be able to claim it.

Lost pocket watch near Tom Lee Park, Memphis

I lost my pocket watch last Friday around 6:40 p.m. while walking along the riverwalk near Tom Lee Park in Memphis. It's a brass pocket watch with an ivory dial and a small engraving on the back, 'J.M.', and it means a lot to me as a family heirloom. I retraced the path along the riverfront, checked the benches by the overlook, and even peeked near the small fountain by the promenade, but it wasn't there. If someone picked it up, I’d be grateful to have it back; it’s more than just a timepiece, it connects me to my grandfather.

Lost: CDs near Beale Street, Memphis

Late Friday night around 9:45 PM, after the Beale Street music crawl, I realized my CDs were missing from my bag as I walked back toward the Orpheum Theatre. They’re in a black vinyl sleeve, with a few live recordings from last year, and the glow of neon by Beale Street makes the moment feel like a blur. I retraced my steps along the sidewalks and outside a couple of clubs, but the discs didn’t turn up. I’m hoping someone who picked them up did the right thing and kept them safe until I can reclaim them.

Lost drapes near Beale Street, Memphis

On October 3, 2024, around 9:10 PM, I realized my drapes were gone from the living room of my apartment on Poplar Avenue, just north of Overton Park. The fabric is a soft cream with a delicate floral pattern, lined in pale blue. I must have folded them during a move and turned away for a minute; when I looked back they were gone. The room feels brighter and less homey without them, and I miss the soft light filtering through the fabric in the evenings. I am hoping a neighbor picked them up and kept them safe until I can reclaim them. If you found them, please hold onto them until the owner reappears.

Lost shoes near Beale Street, downtown Memphis.

Last Friday night, after the concert at the FedExForum, I realized my shoes were missing as I walked back toward Beale Street around 10:45 p.m. I had been along the riverfront near Beale Street Landing, and I must have kicked them off in the crowd after the show. I retraced my steps along the sidewalk and asked a few security staff and passersby, but no one had seen them. One shoe has a bright blue stripe, and I'm worn out from the day—hoping they turn up before I have to dash out for tomorrow's run.
