Found a gold-colored violin case this afternoon around 3:15pm behind the Mason City Public Library on 2nd Street SE. The case is mid-sized, with a few scuffs and a small dent on the lid, and I can see a bright red velvet lining when opened. Inside sits a student-model violin; the bow has a red grip and a couple scratches along the shaft. There's a sticker with the initials 'M.K.' on the outer zipper and a label inside reading 'Beginner Series.' It's clear this instrument has sentimental value to someone—hopefully it's returned to its owner soon. I’m keeping it safe here in Mason City and can coordinate pickup by the library or a nearby cafe if needed.
