Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Louisville are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Louisville in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost passport in Louisville, Fourth Street Live area

I’m really anxious — I think I misplaced my passport. I last had it around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, after I grabbed a coffee near Fourth Street Live on Main Street in Louisville. I set the bag on a chair while I checked a map, and when I turned back, the bag was gone. Inside was my passport and a few travel photos. I’ve retraced my steps along Main Street and the transit area, but nothing. I’m trying to stay calm and get travel plans back on track.

Nintendo Switch OLED in black case with blue/red Joy-Cons

I lost my Nintendo Switch OLED yesterday around 3pm near the Big Four Bridge overlook along the Louisville Waterfront Park. It's in a black protective case, with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Cons and a blue silicone grip on the left controller. The back of the case has a small cat sticker I put on ages ago, and the screen has a faint bottom-edge scratch from a drop last month. This device holds a lot of my saved games and a few personal notes, so I’m really hoping someone turned it in—please reach out if you find it.

Navy blue memory-foam travel neck pillow

I lost my navy blue memory-foam travel neck pillow yesterday around 3pm near the Oxmoor Center mall on Shelbyville Road in Louisville. It's a Trtl brand pillow with a soft fleece cover, a bit flattened from daily use, and there's a faint coffee stain along the front edge. A small turquoise loop on the strap and a tiny Trtl tag on the inner side are my identifying markers. This pillow has helped me sleep on red-eye trips, and it's become kind of sentimental after all the flights I've taken with it. If anyone found it, I would really appreciate getting it back before my next trip.

Black nylon tote bag with yellow banana patch

I lost my black nylon tote bag yesterday around 3pm near the Fourth Street Live plaza in downtown Louisville. It's a medium tote, about 12x14 inches, with a zipper top and a bright yellow banana patch sewn on the front pocket. Inside you'll find a pink notebook, a white charger, and a faded photo of my grandmother tucked in a sleeve. The gray lining shows a few scuffs, and the zipper pull has a tiny compass charm—it's pretty distinctive. This bag is sentimental because it was a gift from my grandmother, and I really need it back. If you found it, email me at [email protected] to return it.

Gray tabby cat with white paws, pink collar

I lost my gray tabby cat yesterday around 3pm. He's a medium-sized guy with soft striped gray fur, white paws, and a pink collar with a tiny silver bell. He has a crescent-shaped scar above his left ear and a small white dot on his chin. I last saw him near the Big Four Bridge entrance by Waterfront Park along the Louisville Riverwalk; he slipped away while I was crossing near Bardstown Road. He’s been a constant support during rough weeks, and I’m really worried—this cat means a lot to me. If you’ve seen him, email me at [email protected] and I can come get him right away. Any help would mean the world.
