Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Liverpool is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Liverpool — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Liverpool so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Black Anker Bluetooth speaker with red bumper

Category: Miscellaneous Electronics. I lost my black Anker Bluetooth speaker with a red silicone bumper yesterday around 3pm near the Philharmonic Hall on Hope Street in Liverpool. It’s about the size of a soda can, in good condition except for a small dent on the bottom-left corner and a blue wave sticker on the back. It lives in a grey fabric pouch with a white charging cable tucked inside, which makes it easy to spot if you saw it. It has sentimental value to me and I really rely on it for commutes and listening on bus rides. If anyone found it, I’d really appreciate getting it back—you can drop it off at the Liverpool Central Station information desk or message me here on the app.

Lost black Nintendo Switch with neon blue and red Joy-Con controllers and two games near Liverpool One coffee shop.

I accidentally left my Nintendo Switch at a coffee shop near Liverpool One on Wednesday afternoon while I was studying. It's black with neon blue and red Joy-Con controllers, and includes two games: Animal Crossing and Mario Kart 8. I'd really like to get it back, as it has some saved progress I'm really attached to!
