Lost pet — how to find them fast

A fast, practical plan for finding a lost pet, plus the shelters and microchip registries to contact.

When a pet goes missing in Laredo, speed and visibility are everything. Most lost pets are found close to home within the first day.

  1. Search the immediate area. Check nearby gardens, sheds, and quiet spots. Bring treats and a familiar item, and call calmly.
  2. Alert the microchip registry. Flag your pet as missing with the microchip database so your details are current if they're scanned.
  3. Call local shelters and vets. Phone shelters, pounds, and veterinary practices around Laredo and ask them to note your pet's description.
  4. Post online and on lost-pet databases. Share clear photos in local community groups and lost-pet services.
  5. Put up visible notices. A simple poster with a photo, the area, and a contact number still works.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-pet listing for Laredo so found-pet reports nearby surface alongside yours.

Tiny gray dwarf hamster with white belly

I lost my tiny gray dwarf hamster, Nibbles, yesterday around 4pm near the Mall del Norte on Del Mar Boulevard in Laredo. He's about the size of a toonie, with soft gray fur, a white belly, bright black eyes, and a tiny pink nose. There’s a small white heart-shaped patch on his chest, and he wears a blue harness with a little bell. I last saw him by the pet store entrance near the food court. This little guy was a Christmas gift from my grandma, so I’m really worried and just want him back safe—if you spot him, please message me and we can arrange a pickup near Mall del Norte.

Small grey dwarf hamster with pink nose

I lost my small grey dwarf hamster yesterday around 3pm. He lives in a Habitrail cage with a blue water bottle and a chewed wooden wheel; I had him in a small carrier in the backseat while I ran errands near the H-E-B on San Dario Ave in Laredo. He’s about 2 inches long, with a distinct tiny white dot behind his right ear and a faint white underbelly that makes him easy to spot if you see him scurrying around. This little guy is more than a pet to me—he was a gift from my sister who passed away last year, and I’m really hoping to get him back safe.

Gray dwarf hamster with white belly — lost

I lost my gray dwarf hamster yesterday around 3pm after I was unloading groceries outside the Walmart on San Dario Ave in Laredo. He's tiny, about 2 inches long, with a soft gray coat and a white belly. He has a tiny white patch on his left ear and a small pink scar on his right hind foot from an old scrape. He loves sunflower seeds and hiding in cardboard tunnels, so if you saw a little jittery thing darting through the bushes near the garden center, you might have spotted him. I’m really hoping to get him back—he’s my little buddy and this has me stressed.

Lost bright blue dog leash with comfortable grip and clip near Plaza San Isidro while walking a golden retriever.

I lost a bright blue dog leash while walking my golden retriever near Plaza San Isidro on Sunday afternoon. It's a sturdy leash with a comfortable grip, and even has a little clip for holding doggy waste bags. I really hope someone might have found it!
