Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in Lake of the Ozarks is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for Lake of the Ozarks — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for Lake of the Ozarks so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Black AirPods Pro charging case with blue sticker

I lost my black AirPods Pro charging case yesterday around 3pm near the Osage Beach Premium Outlets on Highway 54, outside the main entrance by the lake-side benches. It's matte black, about the size of a deck of cards, and it has a small dent on the lower hinge with a blue sticker on the outside. It sits in a gray silicone sleeve, and I use it every day for calls and music. This case has sentimental value—it's part of my daily setup and my sister gave it to me as a gift; I'd really appreciate it if someone found it and could return it.

Blue JBL Flip 4 speaker, PP sticker

I lost my blue JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth speaker yesterday around 3pm near Captain Ron's Bar & Grill on Bagnell Dam Blvd in Lake Ozark. It’s in pretty good shape and still sounds great, but it has a dent on the top-right corner and a small scuff on the JBL logo. There’s a tiny sticker with my initials 'PP' on the bottom, which helps identify it among other speakers. This little guy was a gift from my sister and means a lot to me, so I’d really appreciate getting it back if someone found it.
