I was at Fort Hood, by the Main Post Exchange food court, Friday at 6:42 p.m., when I realized my Chargers were missing. I’ve got a small black pouch that holds a tangle of cords for my laptop and phone, and the moment they vanished my heart jumped. I rely on those chargers during long shifts here in Killeen, Texas, and the silence of the bench where I last sat felt heavy. If someone saw them on a chair near the vending machines or by the seating area, I’d be grateful to get them back; losing them felt like losing a little piece of home.
