Lost your phone? Step-by-step recovery

Carrier contacts, Find My / Find My Device, and the local steps to recover or secure a lost phone.

Losing your phone in High Rockies is stressful, but acting quickly improves your odds of getting it back and limits the damage if it's gone for good. Work through these steps in order.

  1. Locate it remotely. Use Find My (iPhone) or Find My Device (Android) from another phone or computer to see the phone on a map, play a sound, and mark it as lost. Lost Mode locks the device and shows a contact message on the screen.
  2. Lock and message it. If it's nearby, the sound may be enough. If it isn't, enable Lost Mode and add a phone number where you can be reached.
  3. Call your carrier. Report the phone lost so they can suspend service and block the IMEI. This stops anyone running up charges and flags the handset across networks.
  4. Change key passwords. Update your email, banking, and social passwords, especially if the phone wasn't locked. Sign the device out of those accounts where you can.
  5. Report it locally. File a report with the police non-emergency line for High Rockies — a crime reference number is often required for insurance claims.
  6. Post a listing. Add a lost-phone listing for High Rockies so anyone who finds it can reach you privately.

Keep checking the map periodically — a phone that's off may reappear when it's charged.

Black Anker PowerCore 10000 charger

I lost my black Anker PowerCore 10000 portable charger yesterday around 3pm near the Alpine Inn on Main Street in High Rockies. It's a compact matte black power bank, with the orange Anker logo on the front and a slightly worn bottom edge from rough pockets. The USB-C cable is blue and still attached; there's a small dent on the top corner where it slipped out of my bag. On the back there's a tiny mountain sticker that says 'Trail Crew'—one of two identifying details. This charger is my lifeline on long hikes, and I really need it back; I was counting on it for tomorrow's trip.

Black Sony RX100 VII camera with red strap

I lost my black Sony RX100 VII camera yesterday around 3pm. I was walking near the gondola plaza on Park Street, right outside the High Rockies Visitor Center, after snapping photos of the sunset over the mountains. It’s in decent condition with a red woven strap and a tiny scratch on the top edge; there’s also a small sticker on the battery door that says 'ROAM 21'. It has sentimental value for me—it's the one I used when my sister got married last year—and I really need it back. If someone found it, please reach out so we can arrange a safe return near the visitor center.
