Lost something on public transport?

How to track down an item left on a bus, train, tram, or taxi by contacting the right transport operator.

Items left on buses, trains, trams, and taxis around Great Falls are usually handed in to the operator's lost property team — the trick is contacting the right one quickly.

  1. Identify the operator. Note the route, line, or company and the rough time. Each operator runs its own lost property process.
  2. Submit a lost property report. Use the operator's online form or phone line as soon as possible; recovered items are logged against your description.
  3. For taxis and rideshare, contact the driver or company directly through your booking or app receipt.
  4. Keep your reference. Save any report number so you can chase it up.
  5. Post a listing. Add a listing for Great Falls in case a fellow passenger picked it up.

Lost blue-knit scarves near Lewis and Clark Center

6:15 p.m. last Friday, I realized my blue-knit scarves were gone from my coat as I walked away from the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. They’re a soft knit with a thin silver thread along the edge, well worn from winter hikes. I retraced my steps along the Missouri River overlook and asked a couple joggers, but no one had seen them. Losing them felt like losing a small part of my routine—the scarves give me warmth on cold days and remind me of last year’s trips downtown Great Falls. If someone picked them up by chance, I’d be grateful to have them back near that overlook by the center.

Lost Parrots near Giant Springs State Park

Today at 2:45 PM I lost my two parrots after they flew out of their cage while I was tidying up in the living room near Riverside Park. They are bright green with yellow heads, and they love mimicking my voice—Kiwi and Pico. I followed the River Edge Trail along the Missouri River, calling for them, but they vanished into the cottonwood trees. I am worried they will head toward Giant Springs State Park and get split up, especially with all the visitors this time of year. If you have seen them near the park or along the trail, please post what you know through the site.

Lost pendants near Paris Gibson Square, Great Falls

On Tuesday at 6:30 PM I was wandering the downtown Great Falls plaza near the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art and realized my two pendants were missing from a velvet pouch in my backpack. One is a tiny silver circle; the other a silver pendant with a turquoise stone. Both are heirlooms from my grandmother and carry a lot of memory. I stopped at a coffee cart outside the museum and must have dropped them somewhere around that area. I’m desperate to find them; if you saw a small velvet pouch or someone handing in jewelry near the museum plaza, please hold on to them.

Old family photographs lost near the mall

I lost a bundle of photographs after a quick stop at the Holiday Village Mall on Great Falls' 10th Avenue, around 7:20 p.m. last Friday. I realized the bundle wasn't in my tote and my heart sank; those prints are family history—my grandparents’ wedding portraits, a photo from the Missouri Breaks, and a few road-trip candids. I keep them in a weathered album with a pink ribbon, and losing them feels like losing a memory I can’t replace. If someone happened to have found them and set them aside, I’d be forever grateful to have them back where they belong.

Lost passport near Great Falls Civic Center

I am Mia Thompson. I lost my passport this morning around 9:40 AM in downtown Great Falls, near the Civic Center and the riverfront promenade along 10th Street NW. I had grabbed a latte and was crossing the plaza when the wind swept my bag from my shoulder and it disappeared into the crowd. My passport is more than a travel document—it is the gateway to a work trip I have been planning for months, and I am dizzy with worry. If you found it, I would appreciate it being kept safe near the Civic Center entrance until I can claim it.

Lost: Saxophones near Great Falls Civic Center

Last Friday at around 4:15 pm I was wrapping up a rehearsal outside the Great Falls Civic Center on 5th Street SW when I set my saxophones down for a moment. The two horn cases are well used, with a dent on the bell and a sticker from a tour last summer. I must have left them by a bench along the Missouri River trail while I stepped to grab a quick phone photo. I’m worried about the gigs I have lined up and the reeds in them, and I keep walking the sidewalks in that block hoping someone picked them up. If you found them, please let me know through the site.
